What would you have needed in life to avoid imprisonment? This deceptively simple question fuels a filmic collaboration between directors Nance Ackerman, Ariella Pahlke, and Teresa MacInnes, and Nova Scotian prisoners Bianca, Treena, Laura, and Caitlin. Working side-by-side with long-time prisoners’ rights advocate Kim Pate, along with other artists, activists, and staff from their correctional facility, the women are empowered through the creative process to tell their own stories and imagine solutions for the future. -- From viff.org
