Before being a short movie, Straub's L'inconsolabile has been a short theatre play performed in the Teatro Comunale di Buti, the small city in which Straub/Huillet shot all their Pavese-based movies. The dialogue is acted two times, with a short intermission by Straub himself - speaking in italian. The play is shot with a fixed camera, so it's just a neutral recording of the original performance. Aired on Rai3's Fuori Orario.
