Absences

In her latest film, Carole Laganière explores various forms of absence and its impact on our lives. Inspiring the film is the director's story: the slow estrangement of her mother whose memory is being consumed by Alzheimer's. This "anticipated separation" serves as a bridge to the film's other subjects as they pursue their personal quests: Ines, a Croatian immigrant returns to her birth country to find the mother who abandoned her; Deni, an American author searching for his Quebec roots; and Nathalie, who is desperately looking for her missing sister.
