作为《女巫布莱尔》的前辈，利用录像带的影音效果制造成伪纪录片在当时一定是一件非常酷的事情，不过整个剧本而言，还是有些落俗套，特别是为了反转而反转的结局，确实不如一年之后《女巫》的开放式结局。

"The story and characters depicted in this movie are entirely fictitious. But please don't tell anyone." 非常自觉地将议题引向纪录片伦理，并在结尾突兀地打破了伪纪录的形式，故事本身对媒体和“真相”的批判甚至直接预言了一年后《女巫布莱尔》的成功。远算不上是Found Footage鼻祖，但它绝对是Meta Found Footage的先驱。
