In the three centuries following the death of Jesus Christ, religious scholars and writers debated the true meaning of his life. Eventually the early Christian church settled on the four Gospels of the Bible -- Matthew, Mark, Luke and John. But there were numerous other texts that were laid aside, determined by the early church to be untrue or heretical. Most Christians have never heard the stories told in these long-forgotten documents -- until now.
