Pavasaris Vārnu ielā

Janka, a boy from the outskirts of Riga, is a hero in his dreams: he saves his sympathy Zelma from a burning house and is awarded with Vārnu Street Medal – a button flattened on tram rails. However, when it comes to real life it is much harder to fight with kids who are teasing them and calling a boyfriend and a girlfriend. Will he succeed and gain Zelma’s heart?
　　Based on the popular Latvian book Republic of Vārnu Street by Jānis Grīzi??, this film is a heartwarming insight in the lives of kids in Rīga in the beginning of the 20th century. There are fights between the Cowboys and the Indians, troubles that make you hide in the bushes but the friendship wins it all.
　　Eduards Jansons (Latvia, 1972) is a film director, cameraman and artist of documentaries, animation and feature films. His greatest success was animated documentary Little Bird’s Diary which was awarded with Latvian film award Lielais Kristaps and FIPRESCI prize.
